Friends of Thurgood Marshall Elementary provide a wide of support for our community
Literacy Tutors:
Our dedicated literacy tutors provide valuable one-on-one reading and writing support for students.
Afterschool Enrichment Programs and Scholarships:
FTME supports equitable access to a wide variety of after-school activities, classes and enrichment opportunities for students. Your support helps ensure that as many kids who want to participate in an after-school enrichment class can participate.
Opportunity Grants and Classroom Grants:
These are available to teachers and staff for needs including instructional materials, art supplies, playground equipment, and books for the main and classroom libraries.
Tutu’s Pantry:
Founded by a TME family in 2009, Tutu’s Pantry is a volunteer-run program that provides TME families in need with backpacks of mostly shelf-stable food sent home with students at the end of each week. We serve up to 40 families each week this year. In addition to monetary donations, you can also purchase shelf-stable food items from Tutu’s Wish List and it will be sent directly to school.
Social Engagement & Community-Building Events:
Including dances, movie nights, game nights, craft night, special parent-education programs, and outreach efforts such as this website!
